First go through your collection and pull out any books you would like to donate, sell or gift and put them to one side.
Decide how you would like to display your books: By genre, color or size.
Displaying by color is a popular trend, you can even purchase books, by the foot! Choose your colors!
Or for something very different, Remove the jackets and place the books backwards, with only the pages facing outwards. As an organizer, that would drive me mad, no being able to see the name of the book, but it’s a look!
Alternate standing your books upright and laying them flat, to make it look more interesting. Accent with decorative pieces. The ideal ratio is 2/3rds books to 1/3rd accessories.
To begin the process, remove all books from the shelves. As you do, organize into genre stacks, color or size, on the floor, until your bookcase is empty.
Clean the shelves and gauge the space needed for the different genres/sections.
Dust the spines before replacing the books back on the shelves.
The accessories are an opportunity to share something about your personality or style. Shop tag sales and thrift shops, for interesting objects. Hobby Lobby, Pier One, World Market and TJ Max are a good source for themed items and eclectic pieces. Fake succulents and greenery also look fabulous, breaking down the hard lines of the book spines.

Donate Your Unwanted Books; Donate to local Hospitals, Hospice and Assisted Living Facilities, Thrift Stores and Charity Shops.
Sell your books online, there are several ways to do this. Amazon is one.
It’s interesting to note that, while the trend of downloading books to readers and audible applications grows in popularity, actual book sales rose 1.3% in 2018. Bookshelves and libraries are still an important component to home decorating.
